Alexa grew up in the Boston area and graduated from Harvard with a degree in History & Literature. After moving to South America to teach and get some distance and perspective, she began playing around with painting. She has continued to take classes in different cities and institutions, maintaining a consistent on-the-side practice while working over the years as a writer and editor and more recently as an intuitive energy healer.

She enjoys "reading" and interpreting her environment, finding and exploring visual metaphors and narratives, and recreating images in paint that move and inspire her.

She lives in Amherst, MA, with her husband and two sons.
